sponsored Building an exciting future, together.

Veterinary graduates who want to build a progressive, far-reaching career should start as they mean to go on: by choosing a supportive, structured working environment with incredible scope for clinical and professional development.

That’s the message from Medivet who are very successfully building the best place to work in the Veterinary industry by looking after their people and transforming veterinary careers.

“It has been a great program for me and has really helped me with the transition from university to working life.”

The ethos at the heart of an organization that is run by vets is clear: the best way to ensure patients and their owners receive the best possible care is by looking after Medivet people across the UK.

For many, that starts with a Graduate Development Program unlike any other and continues with professional opportunities that include a true ownership option through Medivet’s Branch Partnership Program.

Medivet’s vets, RVNs and all practice colleagues enjoy working in practices where the team feels more like family. With over 400 practices, supported by 25 state-of-the-art 24 ‑ hour centers, Medivet is often described as a community with a depth and breadth of practice that offers a diverse career path on completion of the Graduate Program.

“I chose the Medivet Graduate Program as I appreciated the structure it provided to my first year in practice. I have a great mentor who guided me through my first few months and is still always available for questions. Being off rota for the first 3 months really took the pressure off, as I could start doing consultations and surgeries at my own pace. ”

Launched in 2016, the Medivet Graduate Development Program offers a solid foundation for a veterinary career. Over 12-months, Graduates are supported to get hands on experience in a practice or at one of the 24-hour hospital centers across the country. Thanks to our unique hub-and-spoke model, our network of practices are able to work as one team. There’s always support available with cases through collaborative working and shared equipment between practices.

Successful completion of the program lays great foundations to support your future career. All are actively encouraged and enabled to keep skills up-to-date and further develop clinical excellence. Vets will be supported to gain certificates and develop in particular areas of interest. All Medivet vets get an annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) package of £ 1,500 plus three dedicated days which can be used for external training in a wide range of areas. Internal courses are also freely available that can help with ‘soft skills’ development such as stress management and handling difficult conversations. It’s a 360˚ approach that produces well-rounded, capable professionals.

“We have CPD events monthly and, so far, I have found them very enjoyable! It is great to have the opportunity to discuss cases with a specialist and to hear their recommendations. These sessions are also an opportunity to meet with your cohort and catch up on how everyone is getting on. ”

And because Medivet is run by vets we have clear pathways already mapped out to support wherever your interests lie. Whether your goal is to become Lead Vet, Branch Partner, Regional Director or Head of Clinical Operations, there are many career choices on offer. The dedicated Medivet Graduate team are also building options for those who what to pursue academic opportunities, do an internship or take up a residency following completion of the Medivet Graduate Scheme.

The Graduate Program offers a salary of £ 31,000 and Medivet pay all RCVS fees and the first year of BSAVA membership. After 3 months of one-to-one training, participants move to a 4-day week and enjoy 5-weeks annual leave, plus bank holidays. All Medivet people also benefit from an Employee Assistance Program that offers 24-hr support and comprehensive wellbeing services.

“The Medivet Graduate Program has provided me with a supportive and encouraging start to my career as a Vet, which is exactly what I was looking for. There have been endless learning opportunities and plenty more to come, so I am very much looking forward to the year ahead! ”
